Boo-ed?

In our neighborhood there is a Fall tradition.
Boo-ing.
We received an adorable bag of goodies so it was time to reciprocate.

Start with lots of fun Halloween goodies.
Make them pretty.

Happiness is scoring actual Boo bags.
They are filled with candy.

Monogrammed miniature pails are so cute and easy to make.
They add a personal touch for the children in the Boo-ing home.

A Mason jelly jar filled with candy corn adds to the theme.
Halloween fabric makes them adorable.

Stack, layer, stack, keeping it pretty.
This was a fun project.

The We've Been Boo-ed sign goes on the front door.
That lets neighbors know you've already been Boo-ed.

What's a pretty Boo basket without a pretty bow?
A pinking sheer cut strip of Halloween fabric adds the last touch.

Then it's time to ding-dong ditch after dark, leaving the Boo Basket on the porch.
Boo-ing is an inexpensive and fun way to show neighborly love.

Do you have wonderful neighbors?

Love does no harm to its neighbor Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

  4. I have never heard of this! It's kind of like May Day with candy. I love the idea so much and wish we had a friendlier neighborhood to do this in.

Your Boo gift gets two thumb's up.

  6. These gifts are wonderful to make, give and to receive but I have a totally serious question. What do you do with the little bows, baskets, jars, etc., when the candy or other contents are gone? If you are the project maker, I guess you can save the left-overs for next year but if you are the recipient, it is darn hard to throw the remnants away but there is really no place to store them.

  10. Haha! I have always lived in cities in apartments and have never met my neighbors. If I got a random basket, I would assume they were mad at me because of something my dog did and something was poisoned. =)
I need to move to the suburbs. People do stuff like this?!

  14. That is so much fun. We were booed when we first moved here, by kids that actually came from another neighborhood. I think we have to go boo this year.

  15. That bucket looks so cute and full of yummy sweets. I wish I live next door!!! I could use a sweet friend like you :)

In the "old days" I made gingerbread boys and girls and decorated them to look like each of the kids in the cul-de-sac and gave them out at Christmas. SO much fun!

How nice to live in a friendly neighborhood where the neighbors actually know you! Most of my neighbors never see each other... it's just drive into the garage and shut the door!

I miss the good old days (neighborhood) when the kids all played in our yard and my house was the FUN place to hang out.

I was the "cool" mom. What could be better than that?!
